dino invites

this year we're going with dinosaurs for oscar's birthday. he was very specific about which dinosaurs he wanted on his invitations: stegosaurus, tyrannosaurus rex, triceratops and apatosaurus.

i'm not as excited about his invitations this year as i was last year and am wishing i had had more time to work on them.. but they'll get the job done.

we're very excited that gramma and grandpa will be able to make it to his birthday party this year! they'll be here in 9 days! hooooray!

sorry about the not so great pictures!

picnic in the park

since jeremy has been out of town, we're trying to fit lots of extra goodness into our weekends. last weekend we had a picnic in the park before heading to do the grocery shopping.

we played on the swings

and spelled a few words

then after grocery shopping we went out for jr. candy sundaes at sonic. i'd gotten used to doing the grocery shopping on my own, so it was tons of fun to have them with me! i can't wait until jeremy comes home friday night.. hopefully we have a bit of nice weather like last weekend.

boo

was very sad to take down my heart garlands this year. but since i've had them up for about a month and a half, it was about time.

while jeremy and i went on our romantic getaway to fabulous waynesboro, ms, oscar took nana to the valentine's banquet.

valentine treats

i'm stuck in bed with an ouchy back, so i thought i'd try to catch up on some posting. here are the raspberry cheesecake brownies that i made for valentine's day. i used a big heart shaped cookie cutter and made hearts. topped them with some raspberry flavored whipped cream. not exactly a healthy recipe, but yummy. i plan to make this this week to take to my meeting.

raspberry cheesecake brownies
  • 1 family size brownie mix (and the eggs and such that it calls for)
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3-2/3 cup sugar (i dont remember what i used..)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup seedless raspberry jam
  1. prepare brownies as directed on the box and pour into a 9x13 pan
  2. mix together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and egg. space glops of cheesecake batter evenly throughout pan of uncooked brownies. i think i had 9 or 12 large glops.
  3. add glops of raspberry jam to glops of cheesecake.
  4. make swirly and pretty with a knife. i did side to side in one direction and then side to side from another direction
  5. bake at 350 degrees for somewhere around 30-40 minutes until the cheesecake is looking a little golden and done.

more snow day fun

jeremy made this tiny snowman on the balcony when he got home from work. love it! unforunately the snowman later decided to jump off the ledge.

then we worked on our valentine's day mailboxes.

jeremy's is pretty awesome. he glued the top shut and made a little door in the front. and put a cute little note inside for anyone that puts a valentine in. i guess he was feeling crafty today!

snow day!

we're getting a little bit of snow in mississippi today! actually, we have about as much snow now as there was in ohio at christmas. when oscar saw it he insisted that we needed to get a new tree because it was snowing and that's when you're supposed to have a christmas tree.

it is very wet snow and good for packing, so everyone is out building snowmen and playing with snowballs. the neighbors built that snowman while oscar and i were still eating breakfast, but i threw down a carrot for his nose.

we went out and played for a little while - built and destroyed a small snowman, threw some snowballs, made lots of footprints, and a snow angel. then we came inside for some hot chocolate!
